Are you eligible to carry out an MOT Testing course?
Before you can become an MOT Tester, you have to follow certain rules and regulations. Please see the criteria that needs to be met below.
- You must be over 21 years old (no exceptions)
- Have a full and valid UK driver’s license (an international driving license will not be accepted)
- Must have no unspent criminal convictions, including suspended sentences
- Must have 4 years’ experience working as a Mechanic full time over your life time – Please note: Candidates must provide either a reference letter on headed paper or if you are a self-employed candidate, you must provide gateway ID and permission for the DVSA to contact HMRC regarding your employment history. Please be aware that letters from third parties such as Nat Crow will not be accepted by the DVSA as proof of qualification and therefore cannot be used as proof.

Demonstration Test (VT8)
Description:
This course allows you to freshen up on the skills you have learned before being signed off by a DVSA Officer to be an approved MOT Tester in the UK. This course is an optional extra which many Trainees decide to do after completing their Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 & 7).
- 2-Day Course (Including 1-Day Refresher Course with the Training Providers own MOT equipment and test vehicle to refresh your skills. Followed by a 2-hour inspection from the DVSA Officer the following morning, leading to a potential pass which allows you to be a fully approved MOT Tester
