Are you eligible to carry out an MOT Testing course?
Before you can become an MOT Tester, you have to follow certain rules and regulations. Please see the criteria that needs to be met below.
- You must be over 21 years old (no exceptions)
- Have a full and valid UK driver’s license (an international driving license will not be accepted)
- Must have no unspent criminal convictions, including suspended sentences
- Must have 4 years’ experience working as a Mechanic full time over your life time – Please note: Candidates must provide either a reference letter on headed paper or if you are a self-employed candidate, you must provide gateway ID and permission for the DVSA to contact HMRC regarding your employment history. Please be aware that letters from third parties such as Nat Crow will not be accepted by the DVSA as proof of qualification and therefore cannot be used as proof.

Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment (VTAA)
Description:
Includes a series of multiple-choice questions and practical tasks on the vehicle. 60% and above is needed for a pass.

- Your certificate from the awarding body will arrive with the Trainers 10-28 days from the day of your course as a hardcopy. However, please note that these will be sent out alongside your follow-on certificate for the Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 & 7) therefore please expect to receive both certificates in the post shortly after you have completed both courses.
